Can I use CoBalance if my co-parent has not joined yet?
Yes. You can start your own record right away. If your co-parent joins later, shared household records can stay in one place going forward.
How do I invite my co-parent?
Use the in-app invite flow to generate a 6-digit code and share it with your co-parent. The app opens a share sheet so you can send the code by text message or another messaging app, or you can copy and paste the code and send it however you like. The invite is not emailed by CoBalance.
What countries is CoBalance available in?
CoBalance is currently available in the United States on iPhone and Android. We are working to expand to additional regions soon.
What should I do if I can’t sign in?
Try the same sign-in method you originally used, such as Apple, Google, Facebook, or email. If you have more than one linked method, go to Profile → Account Settings → Login & Security in the app.
Why is my Premium subscription not showing?
Restore purchases in the app, confirm the subscription is active in Apple App Store or Google Play, and make sure you are signed into the same CoBalance account.
What is included in the free plan?
Free users can view shared expenses, attach and view receipts, track child support payments, and record a limited number of expenses each month. Premium unlocks unlimited expenses and history, plus PDF reports, payments, and formal dispute tools.
Do both parents need Premium?
Not for every feature. Some shared interactive features, including in-app ACH payments and formal dispute tools, require both parents in the household to have Premium.
How do in-app payments work?
Payments are handled through a third-party payment processor for ACH bank-to-bank transfers. CoBalance helps connect the payment flow but does not hold funds, provide escrow, or store full bank credentials.
Sensitive bank details and verification are handled by the payment processor under its own secure systems, and ACH payments may take several business days to settle.
Is my data secure?
CoBalance stores account, household, expense, support, receipt, and audit-trail records using secure cloud infrastructure and access controls. Bank details are handled by the payment processor, not stored directly by CoBalance, and receipt images are treated as static attachments rather than being scanned with AI or OCR.
You should still avoid adding unnecessary highly sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers or full bank account numbers, to expense notes or receipt descriptions.
Can I export records for court or mediation?
Premium users can export PDF reports for court, mediation, or personal records. CoBalance helps organize your information, but it does not guarantee that a report will be accepted by any court, judge, mediator, or agency.
How are child support and shared expenses kept separate?
CoBalance keeps fixed support obligations separate from everyday shared expenses. Child support payments are not automatically applied to shared expense balances, and shared expenses are not automatically applied to child support.
What happens if I dispute an expense?
Disputing an expense opens a dedicated message thread where you and your co-parent can discuss the charge, share context, and attach supporting photos or documents.
When you’re ready, you can settle it by paying the expense, having the creator concede and archive it, or marking it as a stalemate if you both agree to disagree. Dispute history is saved for future reference, and stalemates can be reopened later if needed.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account yourself in the app from Account Settings → Delete Account. Personal profile data can be deleted, but shared ledger history may be retained to protect the integrity of the shared record.
